"My name is Jacie Anderson (soon to be Jacie Bowman), and I am so excited to be joining the Garland Elementary family as a kindergarten teacher! I grew up in Perry, Utah, and graduated from Box Elder High School before earning my degree from Utah State University. The time I have spent working with kindergarteners is where I truly discovered my passion for teaching. I’ve found there is something so special about those foundational years, when every day is filled with curiosity, wonder, and excitement! When I’m not in the classroom, you can usually find me doing something active! I love backpacking, skiing, playing pickleball, and running. I’m always excited to try new things, learn new skills, and go on new adventures. I feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity to begin my teaching career at Garland Elementary. I can’t wait to meet my students, partner with their families, and make this a fun, memorable, and successful year of learning together. Go Garland Bears!"

Day 2 of "Welcome, Garland's Wonderful New Teachers!" Today we are so excited to welcome Kortney Weathersby to our awesome 2nd grade team!! Please enjoy her bio and delightful family photo❤️. Hello there! My name is Kortney Weathersby, and I am beyond excited to be joining Garland Elementary as a second grade teacher this upcoming school year! I’ve spent the last four years at McKinley Elementary, where I’ve had the opportunity to grow both as a paraprofessional and as a classroom teacher after completing my Bachelor’s degree from WGU in 2024. This will be my third year teaching, and I truly can’t wait to jump in, build connections, and create a fun, engaging classroom where students feel excited to learn every day! My husband, Clayton, and I have been married for 14 years, and we have four amazing kiddos: Elliot, Macie, Connor, and Colson. Our family loves traveling and spending as much time outdoors as we can. My husband and I just got home from South Africa - it was phenomenal!! When I’m not exploring somewhere new, you’ll probably find me curled up with a good book, playing board games with my family, or baking something sweet in the kitchen. I’m so excited to be part of the Garland Elementary community and can’t wait for an amazing year ahead! Go Bears!

It's time to start introducing our new 26-27 Garland teachers! Our dear 3rd grade teacher, Kayley Throop, has accepted a position as the Instructional Coach at North Park Elementary. We are so grateful for her years of service to Garland and wish her all the best! We are excited for you to meet our new 3rd grade Spanish Dual Immersion teacher...all the way from Spain...introducing Irene Gonzalez! She is an experienced and talented teacher, and we feel that she will fit in very well with our strong 3rd grade team. Here is a special message from Irene: "Empezar un nuevo curso es para mí como sostener una sandía entre mis manos: hay que abrirla para descubrir su interior. Así entiendo mi labor como maestra: descubrir el potencial de cada alumno, respetar su forma de aprender y ayudarle a encontrar su lugar para crecer y brillar." "For me, starting a new school year is like holding a watermelon in my hands: until you cut it open, you never know what it holds inside. That’s how I see my role as a teacher—to discover the potential in every student, respect each child’s way of learning, and help them find their place to grow and shine."

And DRUM ROLL PLEASE!! Tri 3 OVERALL attendance winner as of May 21st is Mrs. Bailey's 2nd grade class with an overall percentage of 95%. Way to go!!

Our kindergarten students worked so hard on their reading goals that Mrs. Crane got to become an ice cream sundae. She was so excited and our kindergarten students had so much fun!
