Huge shout out to the 8th Grade DLI students and their teacher, Ana Aliaga, from BRMS!!! They came and visited our 4th and 5th grade DLI students on Thursday to teach our students the benefits of being bilingual. They did an amazing job presenting and leading the students in fun activities. Our students had the opportunity to see older DLI students being bilingual and had a wonderful time with them. Congratulations to our WONDERFUL Garland Instructional Coach, Lori Jacobson! Last night, she was awarded the district's "SEE" award for her excellent leadership in supporting teachers with their professional learning communities (PLCs). Lori is a tremendous asset and true friend to Garland Elementary!

There were sweet tears today when Mrs. Lish's class thanked and said goodbye to their BEMS Latinos in Action BFFs. They have served our Bears so well! Mrs. Lish made the sweetest "Difference Maker" gifts as a thank you. Shoutout to Suzy Lish and Nefi Ramirez for coordinating this weekly opportunity!
Tomorrow night at BRHS, 6-7 pm, come see the COOLEST DLI students perform at their cultural celebration! I caught the rehearsal today, and it was delightful!

Our 4th graders had a wonderful experience visiting our state capitol today! Many wore their best dress and looked so professional. Our students were so respectful and learned so much. Thank you to our thoughtful fourth grade teachers for planning this field trip, and to the many parents who joined us!
