Ok, Bears! Thank you for a very fun day! The fifth graders played really well in the kickball game and it was hot and sunny for our Readathon...summer is here! Mrs. Crane's tent is set up on the front east side of the school's roof. And yes! She's really REALLY going to sleep up here! Stop by from 5 -9 pm tonight and she'll drop down her basket of goodies for you to pick something. Remember to dress for getting wet tomorrow. It's the field day! Please wear clothes over swimsuits.

Good morning! One last reminder that tomorrow, May 16, will be Garland's reunification drill. No end of day buses will pick up Garland students, and only those listed as a contact for a student may pick them up. All needed information to reunify with your child will be sent at the start of the drill via text, email, and a phone call.

"My name is Brooke Perry and I am excited to serve as the new assistant principal intern at Garland Elementary. I have been a literacy coach at North Park Elementary for the past year. Prior to that, I taught at Fielding Elementary in kindergarten and first grade for sixteen years. I love working with elementary students and seeing their excitement and love of learning. There is no better place to be! Personally, I am married with three children. My husband, Delbert, and I have been married for seventeen years. We have three sons: Zachary, Joshua, and Hudson. As a family, we love spending time together in the mountains. riding our dirt bikes, and camping. I also love singing and enjoy working in the backyard with my family, our two dogs, and our chickens. Professionally, I am passionate about finding ways to personalize learning so students are supported and challenged appropriately. I believe in strong, organized grade level teams that work together to enhance student success and foster innovation. I am a supportive leader who is here to listen to the needs of students, families, and staff members. I can't tell you how excited I am to be joining the team at Garland Elementary!"

Our 3rd grade team is SO excited to add a wonderful new teacher to their team!! Let's meet Abigail Hickman! "Hello! I’m Mrs. Hickman and I am so excited to be teaching 3rd grade this year at Garland Elementary School! As long as I can remember, I have loved school and the thrill of discovering something new. That love of learning has only grown over the years, which is why I became a teacher - I get to share that excitement with my students every day! I’m a proud graduate at Utah State University. When I’m not in the classroom, you will find me outdoors all year round. I’m an avid rock climber, and I enjoy running and mountain biking with my husband. Curiosity and adventure fuel my life, both in and out of the classroom!"

With Señorita Novoa moving to help Golden Spike El. build their Spanish DLI program (and shorten her long commute) we had the opportunity to find a new 2nd grade Spanish teacher. We found a good one!! We are so excited to introduce Maestra Madsen to our Garland community. If you have an upcoming DLI 2nd grader, you're going to love her! Here's her bio and picture: "Hello! My name is Tenaya, but in the classroom, I go by Maestra Madsen. I graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Spanish, and since then, I have been substitute teaching. I have loved spending time in DLI classrooms here at Garland and around Cache Valley. I am absolutely thrilled to officially join the Garland Bears full-time as the second-grade Spanish DLI teacher for the upcoming school year! This will be my first year in my own classroom, so I’m looking forward to learning and growing alongside my students. My goal is to create a bilingual learning environment where students can feel supported and be confident in their learning. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy working on art projects, spending time with my family and day camping. I can't wait to work with my students and their families—I’m sure we’ll have a fantastic school year together!"
